Thought Leadership and Insight from Agneta Evers, Hanko Data Parks

Agneta Evers

For this edition of the Datacloud Nordic Interview Series, we spoke to Agneta Evers, Hanko Data Parks

1. What are the current trends and challenges for data centres in the Nordic region?

Cleantech is definitely the trend. Due to the climate in the Nordics we can offer free cooling throughout the year, we have solutions for reuse of excess heat and availability of renewable energy.

And not to forget that the Nordics is the safest location in the world from the perspective of natural disasters.

2. What trends do you see as pivotal for the growth of collocation throughout Europe?

Reach of markets and data security are some of the most essential aspects. The Nordics location between east and west of the Eurasian continent is strategic from the perspective of global connectivity.

Finland has a regulatory and legislative environment that respects online privacy and a flourishing cyber security sector capable of delivering the latest solutions to protect data from unlawful access.

3. How do you see the advent of edge data centres impacting hosting infrastructure?

Edge will of course increase the need of compact and modular data centres with almost no latency. Still there will be an expanded need for hyper scale and different types of colocation and cloud data centres.

4. What do you see as the future drivers for the industry?

The building of Arctic connect, which will link Europe and Asia via the Northeast Passage.

This will by far be the shortest route from Europe and the Nordics to Northeast Asia.
